Updated Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS Spotted Testing

The updated Speed Triple 1200 RS has been spotted road-testing in the streets of Catalonia, Spain. Images from MCN, UK have surfaced about a week ago. From these images what’s primarily evident is a more aggressive seating posture; this updated version seems to be fitted with clip-ons instead of the earlier tubular handlebar.

While the current 1200 comes with manually adjustable 43mm front forks and a monoshock from Ohlins as standard, the projecting wires from the fork caps suggest electronically adjustable suspension.

These updates will certainly elevate the already razor-sharp Triple. The electronically adjustable suspension should also make way for dynamic damping that will allow the motorcycle to calibrate the suspension on the move.

What is likely to remain unchanged is the gem of an engine in the form of the1160cc triple storming out 180hp at 10,750rpm and 125Nm at 9,000rpm. The sweet symphony of the triple combined with these updates will quite possibly make for a fantastic track bike without sabotaging relative comfort.

The Speed Triple goes up against the BMW S1000R, Aprilia’s Tuono 1100 while the KTM 1390 Super Duke and Ducati Streetfighter are more powerful, making 190hp and 208hp respectively. Whether these updates make their way to India is yet to be seen. Although, we are optimistic.
