KTM has recently announced its training and qualifying dates for the upcoming KTM RC Cup season 2. The sessions will be held in Coimbatore from 22nd to 24th of March, Delhi from 13th to 14th of April, Mumbai from 26th to 28th of April, and Kolkata from 11th to 12th of May.
The championship features their RC390 sport bike in stock trim. The championship consists of 3 categories – Amateur, Women and Pros.
The Austrian manufacturer has selected a simple yet effective system called Superpole. This means that the selection of the qualifiers will depend on the lap times individuals clock. The faster you go, the better the lap time and the higher the chances to qualify.
The Amateur and Women’s category require participants to be blood related to owners of any KTM/ Husqvarna motorcycle or be owners themselves to participate. While the PRO category consists of the Top 20 finalists of KTM RC Cup Season 1 or one who has participated in a former one-make accredited to FMSCI or in an Indian National Road Racing Championship.
A total of 60 riders will be chosen through zonal rounds from the following cities: Coimbatore, Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata. The top 15 riders will be chosen from each zone, out of which 15 riders sift through to the final round held in Madras International Circuit, Chennai.
KTM hopes to ignite and fuel the fire of racers and riders alike. The top 3 winners are offered a trip to Austria to train with ex-MotoGP racer, Jerry McWilliams, watch a MotoGP race live in the Red Bull ring and also visit the KTM Motohall in Austria.
