We first saw a glimpse of the new Aprilia Tuono 457 at EICMA 2024, and finally, it is here. Aprilia has launched the Tuono 457 at ₹3.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Maharastra). While it is mechanically almost identical to the RS 457, it gets naked styling and a handlebar. Bookings are open, and Aprilia says deliveries will begin by March.
Like the RS 457, the 2025 Aprilia Tuono 457 is powered by the same 457cc parallel-twin engine, which produces 47.6 hp and 43.5 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch. The RS 457 shares other underpinnings, such as the frame, suspension, and brakes. The naked bike weighs the same as its sportbike twin—175 kg.
The most obvious difference between the two Aprilias is the design. The Tuono gets naked styling, so the fairing is gone. Instead, a couple of side panels and a small LED headlight flanked by a pair of DRLs are in place. However, we would’ve liked to see the Tuono with a bikini fairing and tri-bulb setup, like its elder siblings, the Tuono 600 and the Tuono 1100.
Apart from its looks, the Tuono 457 has a slightly smaller tank, at 12.7 litres, compared to the RS 457’s 13 litres. The Tuono also has shorter gearing, thanks to the rear sprocket growing one more tooth than the RS. This should make the naked bike accelerate harder than the RS.
At ₹3.95 lakh, the Tuono 457 is ₹25,000 cheaper than the RS 457, though it is still more expensive than its main competitor, the MT-03, which was recently repriced at ₹3.5 lakh. A few days ago, its other rival, the KTM 390 Duke, also received a price cut, and it now costs a whole lakh less than the Aprilia. Is the extra lakh worth an extra cylinder and an Aprilia badge? Let us know.
