Yamaha R3 and MT-03 Get Cheaper By A Lakh

Yamaha R3 and MT-03 get cheaper by ₹ 1.1 lakhs, undercutting the made-in-India Aprilia RS 457.

Yamaha Motor India is no stranger to exorbitant pricing of its high-end motorcycles in India. But, this is clearly a move in the opposite direction. Yamaha India has slashed the price of its deeply loved-but-rarely-bought MT-03 and YZF-R3 by up to ₹ 1.1 lakh. With this discount, the MT-03 will go for ₹ 3.5 lakh (ex-showroom), whereas the R3 will go for ₹ 3.6 lakh (ex-showroom). These prices will be effective from 1 February 2025.

Keep in mind, these are CBU motorcycles, so the build quality is up there with any other Japanese motorcycle on the international market. What makes these bikes even more tempting is that they now undercut some rivals, like the Aprilia RS 457 (priced at ₹ 4.2 lakh) and the upcoming Aprilia Tuono 457 (expected to be priced at ₹ 4 lakh). And they also get pretty close to the KTM 390 RC and Duke, priced at ₹ 3.21 lakh and ₹ 3.13 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively.

While there’s no denying these are excellent motorcycles, this feels like a case of “too little, too late.” Those who wanted the R3 and MT-03 likely already bit the bullet and bought one. The rest who aspire to have one are better off waiting for the next-gen R3 and MT-03 models, which are already on sale in some foreign markets.
