The NS160 and NS200 got quite a sizeable update last year in the form of lighter wheels, addition of a gear position indicator and DTE along with USD forks. The update also included a few new colour schemes and of course the engine was made BS6 stage 2 compliant.
This time around Bajaj has revised the headlight unit and the entire instrument cluster. The all-LED setup with sharper, lightning bolt like DRLs give a Decepticon-like face to the NS200. The dashboard is a fully digital LCD screen with turn-by-turn navigation along with call and SMS alerts.
The rest of the motorcycle, including the chassis and engine, are unchanged with the overall silhouette remaining the same. The 160.03cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder still makes 17.2hp and 14.6Nm alongside its larger 199.5cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder sibling making 24.5hp and 18.7Nm.
These updates while welcome, feel like feeble attempts to revive the NS lineup. Such updates would’ve been much more impactful indeed, if done a few years earlier. We believe the NS lineup deserves a major upgrade rather than minimal updates to keep up with the competition and, may be, raise the bar even. We’d like to see Bajaj put in effort to revive the iconic Pulsar tag from the depths of history.
